We went to a beach, if you can call it that, about five minutes from our Airbnb in Mahone Bay to look for sea glass, which is something that Rose, my wife, is interested in. The place is called Westhaver’s Beach. It was worth a look, but we didn’t find much.

Later, we drove back to Lunenburg to look for a store that sold sea glass art from a particular seller who Rose learned of from who knows where. It turned out that the store was the first one we visited yesterday, and Rose thought the jewelry in that store was highly overpriced.
Even so, she wanted to look again. Unfortunately, we assumed retail stores opened at 9:00 like they do in the United States, but we were wrong. Almost all of them opened at 11:00 and it wasn’t even 10 a.m. yet. We found it crazy that half the stores are closed on Mondays and all of them open late the rest of the week. I guess making money is not a priority for them.
We went to a coffee house across the street to kill time but after a while Rose decided it wasn’t worth the wait, so we headed Chester.
Chester was another town where everything opened at 11:00. We were there a few minutes early, so we stopped and got out of the car. I snapped a few photos of the area near the water.

We got back into the car and headed to the downtown area, which was nearby. The first store Rose saw that looked interesting was closed. Rose wanted to park and look through some of the other stores but she couldn’t find an open parking spot. Between the parking and stores being closed at random was frustrating to Rose so she just wanted to return to our room. We had planned to go to Peggy’s Cove, but decided to do that another day.
When we returned, we went to the store in our building owned by the woman who manages the Airbnb part for the owner of the building. He also owns a small marina operated from the same location. Our one-bedroom apartment was in the back on the ground floor. Another small apartment was upstairs. The guests upstairs had two small children who make stomping noises half the day. Sometimes it sounded like they were having a contest to see who could be the most annoying. Fortunately, this only happened during the day.

Rose had heard of a lobster macaroni and cheese that she wanted to try without the lobster, since she doesn’t like seafood of any kind. Many people recommended Rebecca’s in Mahone Bay so we went there for macaroni and cheese. They did have a lobster mac so perhaps that was the place Rose heard about. Both of us ordered the regular mac and cheese, which we found exceptional.

Afterwards we went to another area near the Mahone Bay sign to look for sea glass. The Airbnb manager said to go there. While there we met an older lady with a dog who was a pro at finding sea glass and helped Rose find many pieces.

Finding that glass made Rose happy which was a good ending to the day.
