The sixth book in my Last Healer mystery series, Last Breath, is available now.

The idea for the story came after my wife’s identity was stolen. We learned of this when she got a letter in the mail from a bank my wife doesn’t do business with. The letter said a check for over two thousand dollars that was deposited in her account was cancelled by the issuer. I concluded that the woman was a scammer and was using a fake identity to avoid repercussions in the event that she was caught. The person she scammed realized it and stopped payment on the check. In this story, Katie and Joe learn of the identity theft in a very different way.
I also decided to give Katie and Joe a pet. The murder victim had a young, ginger cat that they took in rather than allow him to go to a shelter. This creates a minor subplot as the cat wakes Joe up early every morning.

Katie is also pregnant in this story but because she is less than six months pregnant, it was not in issue in this story as it was in Last Flight.
Now I need to get to work on my next book, which I am tentatively calling, For the love of Chris. It will be a retelling of my first book, Bad Cat Chris, from the perspective of Chris.
