We left for Peggy’s Cove a little before 9:30 on the 21st of May. We arrived around 10:30 and didn’t expect it to be so crowded, partly because it was a Thursday and partly because we were used to everything starting at 11:00 around there. We pulled into a parking lot where three or four tour busses were parked, and several dozen people were milling about, both in the parking lot and near the lighthouse.

The television show Haven used this lighthouse as a model for the one on the show, although the area around the lighthouse was different on the show.
We were hungry when we arrived, so we had breakfast at the restaurant next to the gift shop. That place must be a gold mine because there were so many people jammed into the gift shop it was difficult to get through to the restaurant.
After breakfast we walked to the lighthouse and I took more photos. It would have been nice to capture it without all the people around, but that was impossible at that time.

While we were there, we saw a man playing an alphorn, which is traditionally played in the Swiss Alps.

In addition, we watched a Scotsman arrive, put together his bagpipes, and start playing.

Considering “Nova Scotia” means “New Scotland” I understand the bagpipes but not the alphorn.
Before leaving the area, Rose wanted to do some shopping at stores that were down the hill somewhat. I suggested walking but she wanted to drive so we wouldn’t have to trek back up the hill. We drove to the stores but, as usual, there was no place to park so we left.
Of course, that didn’t mean we didn’t shop. Rose remembered a glass shop she saw on the way, so we stopped there. It was called Peggy’s Cove Glass. Inside were many interesting pieces of glass art. We could also see the studio where someone was making a glass piece in front of us. Rose found several things she wanted including several small starfish and a larger glass pumpkin that was a little smaller, but similar, to a piece I bought for her from a company in California.
Despite the crowd, I enjoyed our visit to Peggy’s Cove, and I know Rose was happy about finding the glass shop.
